WAW is a HTML formatted or plain text email (subscriber's choice) Unlike traditional banner advertisements which wait for customers to visit the web site - WAW goes to the reader who has chosen to receive the email. Unlike ‘opt-in’ email marketing you get full color and animation graphics included as part of messages valued by the receivers.

WAW is the perfect vehicle for Access / database related products. But it’s also a cost-effective way to reach influential Windows and Office users - perhaps to reinforce a campaign in OFFICE Watch Current readership is OVER 64,189 Access users.

Good CPM Rates

ACCESS Watch offers flat rates for all our positions. You know exactly what you’ll pay when you book. Comparative rates per thousand readers (CPM) are based on 64,189 subscribers:

  •     Headline: $17
  •     Top Sidebar: $7
  •     Middle Banner: $8.50
  •     Run-of-Issue: $2.85

These rates are really better than above since WAW goes out to more subscribers each issue and is also distributed internally among many large companies. If you take one of our multiple purchase rates then the CPM is even better. With our flat rate advertising charges you know what you’ll pay at the time of booking.

WAW readers get the latest news, tips and tricks on Microsoft ACCESS with special emphasis on introducing newcomers to Access.

CIRCULATION

ACCESS Watch currently has over 64,189 list members and many more than that access it through web sites, bulletin boards or redistribution within companies (shared folders in Exchange Server etc). Thus, it has a current total readership of over 75,000.

WAW is actively promoted throughout the web with links from a wide range of sites including the ZDNet Help Channel.

Your ad is placed in the best possible position however at the reduced price no particular position can be guaranteed or promised.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

You have the choice of either:

  • Text ad (recommended)

OR

  • Graphics with link and alternate text.  A traditional web banner style ad.

TEXT

Formatted text is available as the recommended alternative to banner graphics as follows:

FULL SIZE ADS
370 characters (including all spaces and punctuation)
PLUS a a hyperlink to make the entire ad text  'clickable'.
Links do NOT count towards character count unless you want them 'exposed' or visible to the reader.
 

SMALL (Top Body) only
130 characters (including all spaces and punctuation)
PLUS a a hyperlink to make the entire ad text  'clickable'.
Links do NOT count towards character count unless you want them 'exposed' or visible to the reader.

GRAPHIC / BANNER

We accept banner ads for our HTML publications but no longer recommend their use.  More readers are 'blocking' graphics in email messages and that is the default for Outlook 2003.  For maximum reach for your ad we suggest the text ad option instead.

o 468 x 60 pixels or 392 x 72 pixels (i.e. width x height)

o No larger than 18kb

o .GIF or .JPG format.

o A hyperlink for action when the graphic is clicked.

o Up to 50 characters of 'alternate text' to appear below the graphic, in the tooltip (when supported by the browser) and also in lieu of the graphic appearing.

All the banner sizes are approved IAB/CASIE Advertising Banner Sizes.  Wherever possible we try to fit in with existing advertising graphics you have.

Animation is OK however some email programs don't have animation support so it's recommended that the first image in the sequence be able to 'stand alone' when displayed in a non-animation capable program.

What to Send

For each advertisement to proceed we need the following sent to Jan McCullough before the deadline:

· GIF or JPG images according to the above specifications. Send as an attachment to an email message to us not an inline image.

· Details of the hyperlink for action when the graphic is clicked.

· The alternate text for the graphic as detailed above.

DEADLINES

WAW is published every second week, usually on Monday morning (US time).  All copy must be delivered by the Thursday before publication.  Orders are accepted upon receipt of an authorisation and insertion form.  Payment is due with copy.  No conditions, printed or otherwise, appearing on insertion orders, contracts, insertion instructions or any other form of correspondence that conflict with these policies will be binding on the publisher. Cancellations are accepted up to 2 days prior to publication.
