The interesting results of our reader survey into which version of Office you’re using at home and work.
Thanks to the thousands of Office Watch readers who took a few moments to participate in our survey. The results were not what we expected in some respects.
No surprise that Office 2003 was the most commonly used version of Office, but not by as large a margin as you might think and certainly not as large a percentage as Microsoft would like. The fact that the latest Office could not muster a clear majority vote from a group of readers to an MS Office dedicated newsletter is a sign of the problem Microsoft has in convincing people to upgrade.
The second place getter was the surprise – it was Office 2000! It was close but clearly many people have not moved to Office XP (2002) and are sticking with what they know.
We knew that people were not upgrading their Office as often as they did in the 20th Century but the betting around our virtual office was that Office XP would come in second place.
We suspect people have become more discerning about upgrading and it’s not the automatic choice it was in past years. Quite possibly there are concerns about product activation or compatibility of your older hardware with the new Office.
