Pickit images for PowerPoint

If you’re looking for legal images for your document or presentation, one site to try is Pickit.com

Pickit has thousands of images available, many from photographers who have uploaded their images to the site.  While it’s targeted at PowerPoint users, it can be used whenever stock images are useful such as, Word, Sway, a web site or any other non-Microsoft software.

The opening page says you can ‘Search free to use photos’ which, as you’ll see, is carefully worded.

Registration is required to download images.  To get larger size images you need to pay a monthly or annual fee.  Nothing wrong with that but it would be nicer if that was clearer from the start.

There is also a Pickit app in the Office store, to use in Word or PowerPoint (2013 or 2016 for Windows).

If you want to download any images, you’ll need to create an account.  You can setup an individual name/password or login via Facebook, Google+ or Microsoft account.

Search

Searching is easy and done via keywords that are linked to each image.  Type in a keyword or two and press enter.  As you type, suggested keywords will appear.

Using more than one keyword seems to choose images with either keyword, not both (the usual search default).  See the screen shot below with over 50,000 results for ‘café’ ‘outdoor’.  ‘Café’ alone shows less than 800 results.

On the left is a funnel icon, click on that to see a few more filtering options.

Downloading

To get an image, click on it to see more info on right.

Click the download button to see what’s available.  In this case, after login, only a small version of image is available.  For the larger images you need to pay.

Premium account

Pickit Premium costs $9.99 for a month or $109 for a year.

As with any image site, make sure you check the terms of use.
