Some Microsoft 365 consumer plans come with a monthly allowance of “AI credits” but it’s hard to find out how many are left.
The AI credit balance does not show up in the Microsoft 365 apps nor Windows 11 account information. It should be there and maybe Microsoft will eventually get around to it but don’t hold your breath.

60 AI Credits each month
Microsoft 365 Personal users get 60 AI Credits
Owners of Microsoft 365 Family plans get 60 AI Credits.
AI credits refill at the start of each calendar month. There’s no ‘carry over’ of unused credits.
Paid Copilot plans either Copilot Pro (consumers) or Copilot for Microsoft 365 (business and other plans) have effectively unlimited AI use and there’s no AI credit allocation.
What’s my AI credit balance?
The only complete presentation of your AI credit balance is in your Microsoft account web pages. Go to the “Account” page to see the latest count.
You will NOT find the AI credits balance where most people expect it to be in the File | Account pane of any Microsoft 365 app.
If you have a Microsoft 365 plan but there’s no ‘AI Credit Balance’ section then you’re either:
- On a paid Copilot ‘unlimited’ plan
- Sharing a Microsoft 365 Family plan (only the plan owner gets AI Credits)
- Have a Microsoft 365 Classic plan.
- On a non-consumer plan without a Copilot add-on.
