There are a lot of changes coming for Microsoft customers in October but there’s one that might be overlooked.
Support for Microsoft 365 ARM-based 32-bit applications will conclude:
Feature updates stop in October 2025 or about 2 months from today.
Security updates end in December 2026 or about 1 year, 4 months from today.
Most Arm versions of Office are 64-bit applications. The end of 32-bit support mostly impacts older Arm-based computers or virtual machines, such as Windows virtual machines on a Mac.
Check your ‘bitness’ in the File | Account | About window of an Office app.
Microsoft doesn’t bother putting the essential words Arm or Intel in the About box.
Switch to 64-bit Arm apps for Microsoft 365 if required, however the 64-bit apps are only supported on Windows 11, not Windows 10.
