Microsoft has released some changes to the Bing image search feature in Office 2016 and Office 2013.
When you choose Insert | Online Pictures then the Bing image search.
The default search is for images tagged as using the Creative Commons licence – ‘CC Only’. Use the selector on right to search all images, regardless of copyright status.
It’s good to see Microsoft showing some interest in copyright issue. It’s a bit ironic given that Microsoft itself has, in the past, copied Office Watch content and passed it off as their own.
There are selectors for Size, Type and Color of images.
Unfortunately, all those useful changes haven’t fixed the biggest problem with adding images. The entire window is ‘modal’ – meaning you can’t switch back to the document with the image search still open (like you can with Advanced Find/Replace). It stops users from adding more than one image at a time.
