Project Monarch is now called just Outlook

Microsoft’s attempt at making a version of Outlook entirely as a web application is continuing but is now called just ‘Outlook’. Like we don’t have enough different ‘Outlook’ products already.

Outlook is Microsoft’s name for all email/calendar/contacts software and services, often without clear distinction between each one.

Project Monarch is an attempt to make an Outlook for Windows/Mac that works entirely within a web browser.  What’s called a Progressive Web App or PWA.  Unlike ‘email in a browser’, a PWA would work offline with a local copy of the mailbox, contacts etc.

A small image of the current Project Monarch has leaked showing that it’s called just ‘Outlook’. Sigh.

Microsoft is continuing this corporate folly with yet another ‘Outlook’ to add to the seven different Outlooks we have already.
