Microsoft Word Waves Goodbye to "Send to Kindle"

Microsoft Word is officially retiring its “Send to Kindle” feature, ending the convenient way users could send documents straight from Word to their Kindle libraries. This marks the end of a short-lived integration but you can still put Word documents on a Kindle in other ways.

Starting February 9, 2026, “Send to Kindle” feature will begin a quick exit over the following month.

“Send to Kindle” will be fully retired, by March 9, 2026 or about 4 months from today.

Any documents already sent to Kindle will remain safe and sound on the device.

That means the “Send to Kindle” feature in Word 365 has lasted less than three years. When the feature was announced in April 2023 we said:

“Microsoft has a history of adding third-party features to Office then dumping them later because the contract isn’t renewed. Though Microsoft might give other vague or even implausible reasons for the feature loss.”

Microsoft hasn’t given any reason for dropping “Send to Kindle”.

Users can still upload .doc and .docx files to Kindle manually via amazon.com/sendtokindle.

There are other methods, see Other ways to Send to Kindle.
