MICROSOFT ANTI-VIRUS FREE TRIAL
Years after the first viruses appeared to target Windows and Office documents, Microsoft has released some anti-virus software. After their purchase of Sybari Software in 2005 , Microsoft has released a series of AV products under their own name.
Microsoft Antigen products use multiple anti-virus engines to check for nasties, the engines come from companies like Kaspersky Labs and Sophos plus Microsoft’s own anti-virus scanner.
These products aren’t for desktop users, rather they are aimed at users of Exchange Server or Windows based SMTP systems. Since Microsoft’s Small Business Server uses Exchange Server these new products might be of interest to many Office Watch readers.
- Antigen for Exchange provides anti-virus and content filtering for Exchange Server 2003 and 2000
- Antigen for SMTP Gateways
- Antigen Spam Manager
- Antigen Messaging Security Suite
- Antigen Enterprise Manager
- Antigen Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005.
There are also Antigen for SharePoint(r) and Antigen for Instant Messaging which will remain under the Sybari name until next year. All the products will be on sale from 1 July 2007.
In the meantime, 30 or 90 day free trials of the Antigen range are currently available from Microsoft.
