If you’re looking for an interesting image or pattern for your PowerPoint presentation or Windows desktop … NASA has a treat for you.
ASTER is the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer. A joint US/Japan Earth observing satellite which creates the most amazing and colorful images.
Of course, the images have scientific and commercial use but for us regular people we can just enjoy the pretty pictures.
There’s a gallery of interesting ASTER images which is easy to browse. Or you can find your own images from various web sites – these sites are comprehensive, to put it kindly.
All the images are JPG’s with decent resolution – enough for most presentations and desktops. Give credit to the people who made all this possible, as we have below.
Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia
Thanks to NASA/METI/AIST/Japan Space Systems, and U.S./Japan ASTER Science Team for the images.
