FreeOffice gets a 2019 Anniversary update

SoftMaker’s FreeOffice 2018 has received a major revision.  Possibly borrowing from Microsoft, the July 2019 release is called the Anniversary update.

A few years ago, Windows 10 got an ‘Anniversary’ update.  Anniversary of what was never made clear and didn’t seem to matter.

Some of the interesting features in FreeOffice Anniversary update are:

TextMaker, PlanMaker and Presentations are compatible with Word 2019, Excel 2019 and PowerPoint 201 9 file formats.

Insert | Character has been updated to offer additional typographic characters.

For better compatibility with Microsoft Office, you can apply negative cropping to pictures.

Enter any Unicode character with the key combination Alt+nnnn key. For example, press Alt+8364 to enter the Euro sign.

French typographic rules supported: With French text, quotation marks, question marks, exclamation points, colons and semicolons are now automatically padded with non-breaking spaces

TextMaker: View | Set zoom now offers an additional zooming option, “Fit text to window”.

TextMaker: File | Properties | Compatibility, the compatibility flags can now be quickly set to specific word processing programs

See the FreeOffice Version History for more details.
