Viewing Access Data in an Earlier Version

How to convert Access data from a newer version so it can be viewed in an earlier version.

Q:  Linda Vazquez was sent an Access 2003 database, but she has Access 2000.  Is there any way to open this database, even just in read-only mode?

A:  If you have Access 2003 installed (say on another computer, or in another boot partition), you can convert the 2003 database to 2000 format, and then open that copy in Access 2000.  The conversion selection is on the Tools|Database Utilities|Convert Database menu.  If the database was sent to you by someone else, that person would have to do the conversion, and then send you the 2000 version of the database.
