Microsoft’s Home Use Program is a great way to get Office cheaply including Office 2019, Visio Professional 2019 and Project Professional 2019.
The Home Use Program (HUP) has been a way to get Microsoft Office for less than retail for a long time. It’s available to many companies, organizations and government entities with Software Assurance licensing.
Earlier in 2019, Microsoft switched the focus of the HUP to getting people onto the Office 365 annual payment scheme. HUP eligible people can get Office 365 Home for about 30% off the full retail price. That’s a good price for customers but also good for Microsoft, to the extent where the company is advertising the HUP for the first time.
Office 2019 Professional Plus on the HUP
According to Microsoft, the single purchase perpetual licence Office is not available on the Home Use Program.
Specifically, Office 2019 Professional Plus isn’t sold on the HUP. According to the FAQ’s for the Home Use Program:
“Office Professional Plus 2019 and Office Home and Business 2019 are no longer available as Home Use Program offers.”
However, we continue to get reports that Office 2019 is available on the Home Use Program. Availability seems to change according to country and, perhaps, the type of Office licensing agreement.
After verifying eligibility for the Home Use Program, look carefully for any mention of Office 2019, perhaps under ‘Other Office products’. Microsoft makes the more profitable Office 365 a lot more prominent with Office 2019 hidden away (if it’s there at all).
If you do want Office 2019 on the Home Use Program, we suggest buying asap. Any opportunities to get cheap Office 2019 won’t last.
Visio and Project cheaper on the Home Use Program
If your employers has licenses for Visio or Project, then there’s a good chance that either Visio Professional 2019 or Project Professional 2019 can be had for less.
After verifying eligibility for the Home Use Program look for the ‘Other Office products’ link.
