New Excel and Outlook for Android features

The Office apps for Android are getting some interesting new features.  Excel for Android has better sort and filtering.  Galaxy Watch can now link to the Outlook app.

At first for preview ‘Insiders’ and later to the publicly available Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook apps.

Here’s Microsoft announcement of the new features with their images:

Excel

Mobile optimized sort and filter options

What’s your favorite color? Sort and filter cells and items based on text and cell color using format based filters. The Sort and Filter pane has been optimized for mobile, and you can now filter columns and items by ascending vs. descending, conditional filters, and view a tree list for dates.

Outlook

Galaxy Watch support

See all your mail and act on it while on the go with the all new Outlook app now available on on Samsung watches!

Classification, labeling, and protection

For Office 365 customers who have configured their organization’s sensitivity labels in the Office 365 Security and Compliance Center or the Microsoft 365 Compliance center, labels will be available to be applied in Outlook for Android email messages.  People in your organization will be able to apply a pre-defined label to an email and have that label and any associated protection persist when sent to others. The different actions and protection, including encryption, will depend on the policies your organization defined in the Security & Compliance center.
