Welsh schoolkids and teachers get Office 365 free – what about your kids?

In Wales, all teachers and their students can get Office 365 free, instead of about ₤60, thanks to an initiative of the Welsh government.

It’s worth checking what access to the full Office suite your school, college or university kids might have.

The Welsh government has arranged this as part of the HWB scheme that provides resources to Welsh schools.

Each teacher and student gets:

  • Office for Windows or Mac on up to 5 computers
    • includes Publisher and Access on Windows machines.
  • Office apps on up to 5 tablets
  • Office apps on up to 5 smartphones.
  • OneDrive cloud storage
  • Teams
  • Sway
  • Forms
  • Planner
  • Minecraft, education edition.

In licence terms it’s part of a Microsoft 365 A3 licence.

That’s similar to what’s available in Office 365 Personal or Home plus the Teams, Sway, Minecraft etc extras.

All Welsh students need to know is here with more licence details here.  There’s a consent form etc that the school should know about.

Not Welsh?

If you’re not from Wales, never mind <g>.  Microsoft has licences and arrangements to get Office 365 into the hands of students and teachers around the globe.

It’s worth checking with your school, college or university to see what’s available.

University students have Office 365 University a very cheap, five year, plan.

Welsh Language pack

There’s also Welsh language support available for Microsoft Office.

Go here, select Welsh from the language list then download for either 32-bit or 64-bit Office.
