Outlook can't detect bogus Security Bulletins

Some new and obviously bogus ‘security bulletins’ arrive via email – but why doesn’t Outlook detect them?

There’s another round of bogus Microsoft security bulletins appearing in Inboxes again – these ones are notable only because the Outlook junk email filter and phishing protection do NOT detect them despite some fairly obvious indicators.

We have a sample on our web site (it’s not in the newsletter because the content could trigger a spam filter on your computer).

The link in the email is to an obviously NON Microsoft web site and domain doesn’t match the senders alleged domain. In addition the link is to a downloadable file, any legitimate message would be to a web page on the Microsoft.com web site.

This type of message should be detected by Outlook’s email security features and should be a high priority for the next junk email update from Microsoft.
