Guests now welcome in Office 365 Groups

Office 365 Groups, workplace collaboration system and Microsoft’s answer to Slack, will now accept guest users with some conditions.

Until now only registered users, part of an organization, could be part of an Office 365 Group.  Now outside contractors, partners etc can be invited to join the conversation.

For the moment, guest access only works via Outlook on the Web.  Guests needs a Microsoft account but any email address can be used for guest access.

A guest will get a welcome email, given access to documents in SharePoint Online and will get messages plus calendar invites that are sent to the group.
