Office 2016 for Mac users with Office 365 subscriptions have some new features heading towards them. They are now available for ‘slow ring’ insiders and will eventually be released publicly.
Many of the innovations are similar to features recently added to other Office products.
Office 2016 for Mac version v15.25 (160806) is available now to Office Insiders on the slow ring.
Travel and Deliveries
This addition to the calendar is being added throughout the Outlook versions. Properly recorded flights and deliveries can appear as informative cards within the calendar.
This feature requires both Office 365 subscription and an Outlook.com account. Presumably this feature will appear in Office 365 hosted email (Exchange) sooner instead of later.
@Mentions in Outlook
The ability to type @ in a message body to add a person to the message TO list has also been added to Outlook for Mac. See the recent Outlook for Windows update for details.
Background Animations in PowerPoint
Another Office 365 subscriber only feature is background animations in PowerPoint for Mac. Click on and image then on the Picture Tools tab choose Animate as Background.
Select two places on the image that the animation will zoom towards.
The animation itself is subtle; a ‘Ken Burns’ like zoom into the area you’ve marked.
Other small changes listed in full on the ‘Answers‘ forum, which seems to be a new place for Microsoft to announce things publicly.
