Sampi Ϡ symbol is occasionally used in Greek today. Its modern form, which resembles a slanting right cross-stroke with a longish curve, evolved during its use as a numeric symbol in Byzantine minuscule handwriting. Informally, its often replaced by lowercase or uppercase π.

Windows
In Windows there are several shortcuts to enter the Sampi Ϡ character into any program, but they use a numeric keypad, not the number row above the letters.
Alt + 992
Window 10 Emoji Panel
The Windows 10 Emoji Panel has the Sampi Ϡ symbol. Use Win + . (period/fullstop) to open the panel.
Choose the Symbols tab (the third of the top row icons), then the Language Symbols section which is marked by the capital Ω … handy that. To find the Sampi letters, scroll down the list.

Windows Character Map

Character Map has a search feature, something missing from the Insert | Symbol in Office.
MacOS and Office for Mac inserting characters
On a Mac, to enter the Sampi Ϡ symbol:
- Command + Control + Spacebar shortcut to open the Character Viewer.
- Search for “ Sampi “ and the Viewer should find the symbol you need.
Despite the name Character Viewer, the Apple system tool will also insert characters into any program, including Office for Mac.
