Stethoscope 🩺 emoji in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

How to insert the Stethoscope 🩺 symbol/emoji into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook.  Both in Office for Windows and Office for Mac.

Trivia: the stethoscope was invented by a Frenchman who was embarrassed putting his ear upon a lady’s chest to hear her heartbeats.  His original was a simple tube, not the dual-ear device we know today.

How Stethoscope 🩺 looks in different fonts.

The Stethoscope is only available in Windows using the font Segoe UI Emoji.

As usual, the Apple Mac font, Apple Color Emoji, looks lifelike.

Stethoscope 🩺 codes

These are the important code numbers or values you’ll need to enter the Stethoscope or 🩺

Decimal:  129658  Hex:   1FA7A

Web:  🩺 or 🩺

(web codes aren’t used in Microsoft Office, we’ve included them for the sake of completeness.)

The Stethoscope 🩺  sign does NOT have an inbuilt shortcut in Word.

Use the standard Word Alt + X symbol shortcut 1FA7A  then Alt + X

Once in a document you can copy it to AutoCorrect and make your own shortcut.

Insert | Symbols | Symbol and look for the Stethoscope symbol. Select the Segoe UI Emoji font then search for Character Code: 1FA7A

Window 11/10 Emoji Panel

The Windows 11/10 Emoji Panel has the Stethoscope 🩺  character. Use Win + . (period/fullstop) to open the panel then search for ‘stethoscope’ or just ‘steth’ is enough.

See Emoji Panel is part of Windows 11/10 that totally sucks

MacOS and Office for Mac inserting characters

On a Mac, to enter the Stethoscope 🩺 symbol:

  • Command + Control + Spacebar shortcut to open the Character Viewer.
  • Search for “ Stethoscope “ or merely “steth” and the Viewer should find the symbol you need.

Despite the name Character Viewer, the Apple system tool will also insert characters into any program, including Office for Mac.
