Microsoft Dynamics

Microsoft Dynamics is a brand name for a series of server programs designed mostly for medium sized businesses that used to be known as Microsoft Business Solutions.

Microsoft had some more tangible announcements in their continuing move towards server based features that link firmly into Microsoft Office on the desktop.

These services, previously known as MS Business Solutions, have been re-badged under the title ‘Microsoft Dynamics’, which can only mean that the marketing people had a long and liquid lunch to come up with that.

MS Dynamics is a brand name for a series of server programs designed mostly for medium sized businesses. They run on Windows Server and make heavy use of SQL Server, Sharepoint and, naturally, Office as the connection on the desktop.

The ‘Dynamics’ products are:

  • GP – formerly Great Plains

  • CRM – Customer Relationship Management

  • AX – Axapta, an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) product

  • NAV – Navision, a business management solution

  • SL – Solomon for project, service and distribution businesses.

  • Retail Management System
