Microsoft Store jokes

The jokes about upcoming ‘Microsoft Stores’ especially when compared to the smart and popular Apple Stores.

Stephen Fry (long time Apple lover) suggests that an MS Store will be hard to find, grey, ugly, certain to collapse about your ears and come in 5 different ‘options’.

The New York Times suggests that the long dead and un-mourned Clippy will be exhumed to work as a greeter.

PC World has joined the comedy circuit too with 10 Ways Microsoft’s Retail Stores Will Differ From Apple Stores including ” Instead of a “Genius Bar” (as Apple provides) Microsoft will offer an Excuse Bar. It will be staffed by Microsofties trained in the art of evading questions, directing you to complicated and obscure fixes, and explaining it’s a problem with the hardware — not a software bug. “.

The real lure of the Apple Stores is the Genius Bar, staffed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic people who are able and willing to help people use their Apple goodies. It hard to see an equivalent quality in Microsoft Stores unless regular medication of staff is involved (sorry, could not resist joining the yucks).

If the Microsoft online store is any yardstick then the Microsoft physical stores might look good but they’ll be the place for the highest prices on Microsoft products.
