First official Office 2010 downloads now available

Office 2010 is now officially available for download.

The ‘final bits’ for Office 2010 have now been released to some customers.

MSDN and Technet (Ultimate and Premium) subscribers can now download both the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (X64) versions directly from Microsoft.

It is the ‘Professional Plus’ bundle with Access 2010, Excel 2010, InfoPath 2010, OneNote 2010, Outlook 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Publisher 2010, Sharepoint Workspace 2010, Visio Viewer 2010 and, of course, Word 2010.

Microsoft says two Product Keys are available per customer.  This is strictly true however there is one key for 32-bit Office 2010 and another for the 64-bit version. More keys will be released on 30 April 2010. 

A product key is required during the installation – there’s no trial period without key available with this download. 

However product activation is optional, uncheck the box at the bottom of the dialog where you enter the product key.  Using the product key but no activation thie download of Office 2010 will operate normally for 29 days.

The full build/version number is 14.0.4760.1000  – aka Build 4760.

Next customers to get Office 2010 will be:

27 April 2010 – volume customers with Software Assurance can download

1 May 2010 – volume customers without Software Assurance can download

Retail sales start in June.

 

The English language version has English, French and Spanish proofing tools included.

Depending on your MSDN/Technet licence, the following language versions are available.
