Called Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 it will have the usual grab bag of new features plus one entirely new program.

Instead of Entourage for email, calendars etc there will be Outlook for Mac – which is promised to more closely follow Outlook for Windows.

There are two versions of Office for Mac that mirror the Office for Windows naming and content:


Home and Student 2011

has Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Mac as well as a version of the instant messaging Messenger application. It will sell for $119 for a single install or $149 for a ‘family pack’ of three installations.


Home and Business 2011

Adds Outlook for Mac to Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Mac as well as a version of the instant messaging Messenger application. It will sell for $199 for a single install or $279 for a ‘multi pack’ of two installations for a single user (desktop and portable).

There is also an Office for Mac Academic 2011 which is the same as the ‘Home and Business’ bundle but only available to authorized academic buyers. $99 for a single installation.
