Microsoft’s latest video on the upcoming Office 2011 for Mac.
Microsoft’s latest video on the upcoming Office 2011 for Mac features some developers talking about what they’ve been working on. Check it out here.
Some of the features briefly discussed:
The Template gallery is already a familiar feature for Office for Windows users
Entourage is being replaced with ‘Outlook for Mac’ with some Outlook 2010 features like Conversation view.
Outlook for Mac backup sounds much better than anything available for Windows. You’ll be able to automatically backup only new items using Apple’s excellent Time Machine system. Both incremental Outlook backup and a version of Time Machine would be fantastic to have in Office for Windows.
Office 2011 will have the ribbon interface which is a good thing for the most part but there’s bound to be detractors.
One ‘softie calls Office 2011 the ‘definitive version of Office for Mac’ which is pushing hyperbole a bit. We all know it’s really the definitive version until the next Office for Mac.
And finally there was the inevitable use of ‘exciting’ in the video – Microsoft’s favorite and overused word – but only once so we can be grateful for small mercies.
