Office 2010 beta ends soon

In a few days the Office 2010 beta will stop working, what’s next?

On 31 October 2010, anyone using the Office 2010 beta (sorry, Preview) will find it’s turned into a pumpkin.

After that date the beta software will revert to ‘read only’ mode where it can open and view documents but little else.

If you’re still running the test software the time has come to either make the change or revert to an earlier version of Office.

Alternatively you can use the Office 2010 trial software to delay making a decision at all. A 60 day trial is available from office.microsoft.com

The trial is intended to let people make a choice about Office 2010 but can also be used to allow time to hunt around for a good deal.

Of course, you can also revert to Office 2007 or earlier version of Office.

Whatever you choose to do, the important thing to remember is uninstalling the beta software first. Usually upgrade from beta software is not supported and isn’t a good idea. It’s best to remove the beta software entirely then install the replacement.
