And so it begins …

WinBeta is reporting that emails are going out to people who qualify for the next step in Office software testing.  This marks a major step in the progress to yet another version of Office.

A few months ago Microsoft asked people to ‘indicate interest’.  Now they appear to have culled those requests and sent emails inviting some people to complete ‘onboarding steps’ (Microsoft’s term).   From there, people will be gradually invited to try out new Office software.

But what software?  It could be Office 2015 including some touch screen / Modern interface features, Office for Android (an increasingly glaring omission) or some cloud based services or updates to Office 365.

And so 2015 looks like being an interesting year.  A new version of Windows, aimed at washing away the bad taste of Windows 8, plus plenty of changes for Microsoft Office users.
