30 hours of Terms and Conditions

Gotta love the Norwegians (Hi Jannicke!) when they make a point by reading aloud the Terms and Conditions for popular services like Twitter, Instagram etc.

It took them over 31 hours (31 hours, 49 minutes and 11 seconds) to read 250,000 words (Moby Dick is around 206,000 words).

Which got us thinking about the T&C’s for Microsoft Office.   That’s more complicated than it first looks.

The Licence Terms shown in Office 2016 software are just the tip of the legalese iceberg.

The terms are so complex that even Microsoft has to allow for the possibility that the various components may conflict with each other.   There’s wording in the Office 2016 ‘Supplement’ to give it precedence over any other Microsoft terms that might contradict it.

All up, the Microsoft Office licence clocks in at over 30,000 words.
