Last Chance: Save on Microsoft 365 Classic Plans in Australia & NZ

Australian and New Zealand Microsoft 365 customers have only a few days left to save money by switching to the lower-cost Microsoft 365 Classic subscription, as Microsoft will retire these no-Copilot, no-AI plans at the end of 2025. Buried in Microsoft’s own documentation is a crucial notice that the Classic option won’t be available after December 31, 2025, meaning users who want to avoid higher prices or AI-driven plans should act now.

The cheaper “no Copilot AI” Microsoft 365 “Classic” plans will not be available after the end of 2025 for Australian or New Zealand customers.

Buried in one Microsoft page is this note:

Note: Subscribers in Australia and New Zealand: the option to switch to Microsoft 365 Classic is no longer available after December 31, 2025.

How to switch to Microsoft 365 Classic plan

Go to the Subscriptions page in your Microsoft account and try to cancel the current Microsoft 365 plan. You may also be offered other options, like a “Classic” plan.

See Microsoft 365 Classic Explained: A Lower-Cost, No-AI Subscription Option for more detail on the Classic plans and how to get one.

Why just Australia and New Zealand?

Microsoft doesn’t give any reason for the ‘Classic’ plan cut-off but most likely this is related to the legal action against Microsoft for misleading conduct.

The litigation applies solely to Australia and not to New Zealand, making the inclusion of ‘Ennzed’ a mystery.
