Microsoft Store is offering a discount on Office 2016 subscriptions and single perpetual licences, but it’s not much of a deal.
These deals aren’t bad, but you can get pretty much the same prices anytime from other stores.
Other stores also have discounts for other Office 365/Office 2016 products that the Microsoft Store still sells at full price.
The latest offer has these prices:
Office 365 Home (new or renew) $89.99 instead of $99.99
Office 2016 Home and Student for Windows (1 licence) $119.99 not $149.99
Office 2016 Home and Student for Mac (1 licence) $119.99 not $149.99
Each time the Microsoft Store has discounts, a simple web search will find the same or a bit better prices elsewhere.
Amazon US (a good place to check for the ‘street price’ of major software products) sells the same Office 365 Home for the same price $89.99 as a regular price.
Similarly, the prices of Windows or Mac Office 2016 Home and Student are usually the same on Amazon. But Amazon sells it at that price all the time, not just as a ‘special’. Remember: ‘Home and Student’ packages don’t include Outlook, Publisher or Access.
Microsoft Store has no discounts on Office 365 Personal nor Office 2016 Home and Business licences … but who cares? Just go to Amazon or some other large retailer in your area to buy for less than Microsoft’s official prices.
