Outlook.com Premium (that usually costs either $20 or $50 a year) is being added as another feature of Office 365 Home or Personal bundles.

Microsoft said that their top level Outlook.com would become part of Office 365 Home/Personal but haven’t done anything in the six months since that hint was dropped.

Now an Outlook.com promo page has confirmed the addition.

There’s no indication, yet, of the update for existing Office 365 accounts.  Will Microsoft make some offer to people who bought Outlook.com Premium and Office 365?

Outlook.com Premium is only available in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore.  It’s not clear if that will change with the expansion of Premium benefits to Office 365 will also expand the geographic limitation.

It’s another sign that Outlook.com Premium has been a hard sell with not enough takers, by Microsoft standards.  The extension of the original $20 introductory deal shows that the original price was too high with not enough to justify the cost. Which we said back in February 2017.

Whatever price you pay, there are some traps in the Outlook.com Premium offer, especially the cheap custom domain offer.

Misleading Link

The promo page has an enticing link saying : “Learn more about Outlook.com and Office 365”

Unfortunately, that link takes you to general hype about Outlook 2016 software and Office 365 – nothing about Outlook.com and its new relation to Office 365.
