Word Online gets Dictation - type with your voice

Microsoft has added the Dictation feature to the browser based versions of Word and OneNote.  You can speak and words will appear in Word/OneNote using the cloud ‘speech to text’ feature.

Dictation is already available in Word 365 for Windows.  Office for Mac users have a ‘voice to text’ feature available in the MacOS.

Word and OneNote online with Dictation is available free to everyone, no Office 365 subscription required.

This is part of Microsoft’s project to help the millions of people with some form of dyslexia. Dyslexia is a difficulty in reading or interpret words, letters, and other symbols

On the far right of Home tab is the Dictation option.  Just like Word 365 for Windows five languages fully available:

  • Chinese (PRC)
  • English (Canada)
  • English (US)
  • Spanish (International Sort)
  • Spanish (Mexico)

Plus others as ‘preview’ languages which may not be 100% but work OK for us.
