Avoid the black slide at the end of a PowerPoint slideshow

The blank black slide which appears usually at the end of a slideshow is a default setting in PowerPoint. But it can be changed.

Open PowerPoint 365, PowerPoint 2021 back to PowerPoint 2010 go to File | Options | Advanced

PowerPoint 2007 is almost the same, Office button then PowerPoint options | Advanced. In the “PowerPoint Options” window that pops open click on “Advanced” link. Here under Slide Show group uncheck the option “End with black slide” and click on OK button. PowerPoint 2003 is similar, go to Tools | Options | View.

Uncheck the option and when you view the slideshow the black slide will not appear at the end of the presentation. Instead, the slide show will exit and your audience will see your copy of PowerPoint or whatever is open on your computer. That isn’t very professional.

It’s a pity Microsoft doesn’t provide some more options, for example just stopping on the last slide in the deck or different color options for the ending slide.
