Pray / Thank You 🙏  symbol  in Western cultures can be used to show prayer or devotion more generally as well as thanks or appreciation.

The official Unicode name is “Person with Folded Hands” because there are many other meanings depending on the culture including namaste, please, bowing, pleading, sorrow or regret.

The Pray emoji is only available in Segoe UI Emoji and Segoe UI Symbol fonts.  Modern Word will automatically switch to the Emoji font, if necessary.

Insert | Symbols | Symbol and look for the  Pray / Thank You symbol.

Windows

In Windows there are several shortcuts to enter the Pray / Thank You 🙏  character into any program, but they use a numeric keypad, not the number row above the letters.

The Windows 10 Emoji Panel has the Pray / Thank You 🙏  emoji.  Use Win + . (period/fullstop) to open the panel then search for Pray.

Depending on the version of Windows, you might have the option of different skin tones for the hands (see the row of yellow/brown choices).

MacOS and Office for Mac inserting characters

On a Mac, to enter the Pray / Thank You 🙏 symbol:

  • Command + Control + Spacebar shortcut to open the Character Viewer.  
  • Search for “ Pray “ or “Folded Hands” and the Viewer should find the symbol you need.

Despite the name Character Viewer, the Apple system tool will also insert characters into any program, including Office for Mac.
