Microsoft 365 Premium is the newest consumer plan that bundles the popular Family subscription with Copilot Pro at a much lower cost. For $199 a year, subscribers get six accounts with full Microsoft Office apps, 1TB OneDrive storage each, and premium Copilot AI tools for the plan owner—including research, data analysis, and workflow automation. Our guide breaks down what’s included, how it differs from other plans, and why it could save power users over $140 a year.
Microsoft 365 Premium is essentially the current Family plan (the owner plus five users) plus the Copilot Pro add-on combined into a single product at a lower price.
Yes, you read that right. For those who want Copilot AI, the Premium plan is a significant price drop, saving at least US$140 over what people are paying now.

What’s new in the Premium plan
The Premium plan owner gets the fullest access to Copilot features that’s possible for a consumer plan.
The differences in Microsoft 365 Premium only apply to the plan owner, not anyone sharing the plan.
That includes access to Copilot features that were only available to commercial plans and at a higher price.
- Researcher, Copilot’s quick fact-finding and summarizing mode for pulling reputable sources and drafting concise briefs
- Deep Research, longer, multi-step investigations that plan a strategy, read widely, compare viewpoints, and return a cited, structured report
- Analyst (for Excel), focuses on data—importing from files or links, cleaning and exploring it, building charts/models, and explaining findings in plain language
- Actions, lets Copilot actually do things for you—calling connected apps and services (e.g., send an email, create a meeting, update a list, run a workflow) through natural-language commands.
- Photos Agent (coming soon), built-in agent inside the Microsoft 365 Copilot app that will help you search, manage, and interact with your OneDrive photos using natural language (e.g., “find my scanned receipts from June” or “show beach photos from Spain”)
However, some features have a monthly limit, see below.

Microsoft 365 Premium costs US$199 a year plus taxes. Microsoft quotes the $19.99 monthly price which is more expensive that paying yearly.

The Premium plan comes with Copilot “Priority access” meaning that AI requests should be processed more quickly.
Microsoft also talks vaguely about “Exclusive access to Advanced AI features” without details.
What does “Extensive Use” mean?
Copilot limits sometimes just say “Extensive Use” without specifics and Microsoft doesn’t explain.
Nearest we can tell, “Extensive Use” means that Microsoft reserves the right to limit Copilot access if the company thinks it’s excessive. Somewhat like the “Reasonable use” fine print in some unlimited Internet plans.
