The Feb 09 update for Outlook 2007 disables an add-in that you don’t have.
If you install the February 2009 Cumulative Update for Outlook 2007 then dig around the list of add-ins you may see an entry you don’t expect.
Go to Tools | Trust Center | Add-ins | Manage | Disabled Items then click Go – there’s a reference to Show Sender Photo, an Outlook addin that’s disabled supposedly because it prevented Outlook from working:
ShowSenderPhoto_OutlookAddin.Connect
Only you’ve never heard of the add-in and never installed it let alone remember it causing trouble with Outlook.
Don’t worry, your memory hasn’t gone completely.
According to Microsoft the ‘ShowSenderPhoto’ is an ‘in house’ add for Outlook that is broken by the many fixes in the Feb 09 Cumulative Update.
You can click on the add-in and choose Enable but it won’t do anything.
The add-in hasn’t been installed, just a placeholder to stop it being loaded at all. It’s a pre-emptive disabling, if you like.
