Microsoft posted the program that removes the two swastikas from Office 2003’s Bookshelf Symbol 7 Font that I mentioned in a previous article in Office Watch. In fact, the tool does more than remove the swastikas – it removes the entire font!
Good riddance, sez I.
When you run the program, it’ll remove the Bookshelf Symbol 7 Font. But here’s the kicker: you have to quit and re-start Word *and Outlook* before the font disappears from the Font drop-down list.
Why? Because Outlook has a phantom copy of Word running, which you can’t get at. As long as Word is running – even the phantom copy – the font list isn’t re-assembled. (Did you see “Pirates of the Caribbean”? That’s what’s happening: this ghost copy of Word hangs around and haunts everything as long as Outlook is running. Gums up the works. Blitey, mate.)
The tool can be found here.
