In translation that means:

Still lost? – we don’t blame you.
A reference application pack is what Microsoft calls a download of material to help developers and administrators apply Microsoft’s products in a particular situation.
Office Business Applications are programs designed to link together various parts of Microsoft Office together for a particular type of business.
At this point we can add in ‘ LOBi ‘ – Line of Business Interoperability. Not sure why the last letter is lower case – especially since ‘Interoperability’ is the most important part of the phrase. If you delve into Sharepoint 2007 you’ll hear lots about LOBi.
Supply Chain Management is the movement of materials through a business and to a customer.
In order to promote the Office 2007 products, both the Office Suite and the Back Office technologies, Microsoft has released a download that shows how to link these systems together in what Microsoft thinks of a real world example.
Starting here download the ‘Installing the Solution’ document to see if your system meets the pre-requisites.
In short they are:
- At least 2GB of RAM
- Windows Server 2003
- SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition SP1
- WinFX runtime
- Visual Studio 2005 Professional,
- Visual Studio Extensions for WinFX & WF
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise Edition Beta 2
- Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Edition Beta 2,
- Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 Beta 2,
- Visual Studio Tools for Office “v3” June CTP,
If you have all that in one place (a virtual machine would seem sensible) then download the .msi file and the ‘Running the solution’ document.
Like most Microsoft ‘Real World’ examples it demonstrates either a naïve view of the way businesses work or, more likely, an effort to accentuate the good sides of Office 2007.
