REDMOND, Wash., and MAYNARD, Mass. — March 31, 2009 — Microsoft Office and Monster.com, the leading global online careers and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: MWW), are teaming up to help people find jobs and maximize their potential for employment in a challenging economy. Starting today, job seekers will have access to Office Online Career Center, a new all-in-one portal aimed at helping people find new opportunities and reach their full potential, where they can create résumés by choosing from hundreds of Microsoft Office Online résumé templates and benefit from Monster’s job posting and career management tools and advice.

“More than ever, a strong résumé that makes a positive first impression is key to landing that first internship or finding a great job,” said Justin Hutchinson, director of product management, Microsoft Office. “By partnering with Monster.com we are giving Office customers the resources to build strong résumés while also streamlining the process of finding and applying for new jobs. With these tools, we aim to give people an even better chance at finding the career they want.”

Monster.Com: Finding Jobs, Building Careers

Monster.com will power the career tools and services on the Office Online Career Center. In addition to résumé templates, job seekers can access Monster.com’s career management tools and hundreds of thousands of job openings online. Employers benefit from the expanded access to job seekers and access to Monster’s employer tools including job description templates, the résumé database and the employer resource center.

“This is an innovative alliance among two global leaders,” said Ted Gilvar, executive vice president and chief global marketing officer, Monster.com. “Microsoft Office Online customers now have easy access to Monster’s jobs, tools and career content; and Monster extends its reach to the people who downloaded more than 18 million career-related templates through Office Online last year alone.”

Résumés Go From Dusty to Dazzling

Whether soon to be fresh out of college or recently unemployed, many people are intimidated by building or updating their résumé. Job hunters starting from scratch frequently end up staring at a blank Microsoft Office Word document on their computer screen, unsure of where to begin. By visiting http://office.microsoft.com/, job applicants will now have access to the right tools needed to build a killer résumé. They will have the option to first choose from hundreds of free career-related template options and then customize the template with fonts and formats that match their personal style. Job seekers can opt to create traditional or more modern résumés, or build one that is tailored for the job they are seeking — anything from an administrative assistant to a teaching position or a maintenance mechanic. The Web site also contains tips on writing résumés and changing careers, as well as a useful section on common résumé mistakes to avoid.

“I really liked the idea of going to work, and being able to say I did something that made the world a little bit better,” said Alycia Delmore who was looking for an administrative job with a nonprofit group and used Microsoft Office Online to create a new résumé. “I had no idea anything like Microsoft Office Online existed. I went there, chose a template, put in all my information and there it was, boom, a really impressive résumé.”
