How to create a database with links to external documents.
Q: I am looking for some information and examples for creating a database of documents….(Excel spreadsheets, PDF files, word documents, jpegs, and bimps). I would like to see an example of records with links to external docs, and perhaps an example of how to build a single record via a form) linked to a document( any of the above).
A: If you are planning on upgrading to Office 2007, this can be done quite easily using the new Attachment field type. For earlier versions of Access, you can use a Hyperlink field with a link to the document.
