Office 2016 for Windows updates for July 2018

Here’s a list of the non-security aka bug fix updates to Office 2016 for Windows, released for July 2018.

These updates should come to you automatically via Microsoft Update or you can patch individually from the links provided.

Here’s Microsoft’s list with their explanation of each update.

Office 2016

Excel 2016 KB4022229

“Assume that you copy a cell that contains unknown metadata and paste the cell content on the same cell in Excel 2016. Then you undo the operation. When you paste the cell content to another cell in Excel 2016, Excel 2016 may crash.

When you change the Application.WindowState property by using an add-in in Excel 2016, Excel 2016 may crash.

When you perform a drillthrough action for a pivot table, you receive the following error message: Drillthrough action is not supported when multiple items. ”

Outlook 2016 KB4022230

“This update adds a Group Policy that lets administrators hide the Do Not Send a Response option when attendees respond to a meeting. This policy hides this option when attendees are responding to either the meeting invitation email or the meeting on their calendar.

When you click to select a meeting item in the Outbox folder in touch mode of Outlook 2016, the meeting will be canceled.

This update enables the Outlook Add-in Store for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) scenarios.

This update provides the translation improvements to make sure that the meaning is accurate. This update also includes the bold and italic shortcuts improvements for the inline reply in the German version of Outlook 2016.”

Office 2016 KB3191864

An Outlook 2016 fix.  This patch requires the KB4022230 update (above) as well.

“After you use the Rooms button or the Room Finder add-in to change the conference room for a meeting, the Location of the meeting is not automatically updated to match the newly selected room. ”

“When an add-in spams an Office 2016 application with copy and pastes, the Office application can get into a state where it is not displayed correctly.”

Office 2016 KB4018385

“When you insert a 2D chart (for example, a column, bar, scatter, line, area, or bubble chart) that contains many values into a worksheet, some gridlines at the bottom of the chart are not displayed. After you install this update, gridlines can be drawn normally in a chart with a wide range of data and logarithmic scale.

When you work with a chart that contains filtered content in an Office 2016 application, the Office 2016 application may crash. This issue occurs if you install the update KB4018319.”

Office 2016 KB4022214

“Translates strings for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) privacy notice in multiple languages to make sure that the meaning is accurate.

When you select Compare and Specific Version for a document in Word 2016, you receive the following error message: Versions cannot be accessed at this time, because the server is busy. Please try again later”
