Introducing the new boss of Microsoft Office

Ryan Roslansky is the new boss of Microsoft Office, adding to his existing role as the CEO of Microsoft LinkedIn.

His official title is Executive Vice President of Office, leading Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Microsoft 365 Copilot.

The new post is part of yet another internal reorganization of Microsoft.  I wonder how many times the Office teams have been reshuffled into different divisions Microsoft?

Microsoft 365 / Office represents around 23% of Microsoft’s business and is the single biggest revenue stream for the company (just ahead of Azure cloud services).   While there’s no doubt Mr Roslansky is very accomplished, it seems a little strange that Microsoft 365 / Office with Copilot is now an additional responsibility to his, formerly full-time, LinkedIn duties.

Ryan Roslansky (born December 4, 1977) is an American entrepreneur and the CEO of LinkedIn, a position he has held since June 2020. He joined LinkedIn in May 2009, initially hired by then-CEO Jeff Weiner, and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the platform’s growth and strategy.

Early Life and Education

Roslansky was born in South Lake Tahoe, California. He attended the University of California, Davis, but left during his sophomore year to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. He co-founded a company called Housing Media, which was later acquired by USHousing.com.
