What happened to the link to Contacts from Tasks or Appointments that used to be in Outlook?

I am using Office 2007, and am very frustrated by the removal of the Contacts field. I used it a lot in v2003 in tasks and appointments, but it’s gone and I’d like to know the best way of getting it back.
In Outlook 2003 and before, the tasks and appointments entry forms had a section at the bottom to let you link contact/s to that item.
You can restore that feature from Tools | Options | Contact Options and check the box ‘Show Contact linking on all Forms’. Then you’ll see the Contacts option at the bottom of forms again.
Sidebar: No – I don’t know why Microsoft decided to remove the contacts link from the default page – I’ve long given up trying to understand the thinking behind decisions like that.
For Outlook 2007 appointments and tasks you can link to other Outlook items, not just Contacts. On the Insert tab there’s a button ‘Attach Item’ which should more properly read ‘Attach Outlook Item’.
This will create a link to the Outlook item you choose, just like in earlier versions of Outlook. It is a link, not a copy of the original item so any changes to the contact will show up elsewhere.
The neighboring button ‘Business Card’ will attach a business card (.vcf) file based on the Contact item you select. That is a copy of the contact information and any later changes to the original contact are NOT updated in the business card.
