Windows Update itself needs patching.
If you’re having trouble with Windows Update or Microsoft Update you might want to try this patch – it fixes troubles with a slow or non-responsive update process.
Microsoft Update is Microsoft’s preferred method of distributing updates for Office among other things. We’ve always been wary of the automated update process, due to Microsoft’s spotty reliability when it comes to their updates. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.
For some reason this update won’t be ‘pushed’ out to customers immediately, instead it’ll go out between now and the end of June. If you’re having trouble with Windows/Microsoft update then grab the update immediately.
