Even the Taliban makes mistakes

The Taliban sends CC’s instead of BCC’s and reveals their contact list.

It’s somehow comforting to know that even the worlds most feared terrorist group can make email mistakes just like anyone else.

ABC News in the USA reports that Qari Yousuf Ahmedi, a Taliban spokesman, sent out a press release. We’re not entirely sure what the announcement was but presumably it was full of exaggerations, boasts and the usual catch phrases ‘Death to America’ ‘Death to Israel’ and so on.

On this occasion the spokesman made a ‘bludner’ – he used the CC option to distribute the release to all 400 people instead of BCC. The result? Everyone now knows who gets Taliban press releases and have the email addresses of, among others, a provincial governor.

I hope the Taliban treat their weapons with similar care; leading to less Taliban.

Anyone who receives an email can see the recipient details in the To and CC fields. BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) recipients aren’t visible to anyone else.
