Put the Sound Recording Copyright ℗  or Circled P character into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook.  Both in Office for Windows and Office for Mac.

Sound Recording Copyright ℗  symbol (aka Circled P ) is used to mark musical copyright.  The ‘P’ stands for ‘Phonogram’ or the modern ‘Phonorecord’ (a broad term for any sound storage from wax cylinders or records through to hard drives).

It’s a specialist version of the general Copyright symbol ©  (in Word: Ctrl +
 Alt + C
or  (c)  )

MacOS and Office for Mac inserting characters

On a Mac, to enter the Sound Recording Copyright ℗ symbol:

  • Command + Control + Spacebar shortcut to open the Character Viewer.
