Opening the Outlook Connection Status box

How to open the Outlook Connection Status box to see what type of connection Outlook for Windows is making to each mailbox. It’s hiding on an Outlook menu most people don’t even know about.

Microsoft’s instructions aren’t complete, try this:

  1. Outlook for Windows must be running
  2. Open the notification pane on the bottom right of Windows
  3. Hold down the Ctrl key
  4. Right-click on the Outlook icon
  5. Choose ‘Connection Status’
    • That and the ‘Test Email AutoConfiguration’ option only appear on the menu when the Ctrl key is held down first.

That opens the Outlook Connection Status box which looks like this:

Outlook for Mac connection status

There should be an equivalent ‘Connection Status’ box in Outlook for Mac but Microsoft hasn’t added one.
