Discover Microsoft Office Quick-Start .new Links

There are special web links to  make a new Office document (Word, Excel or PowerPoint) with a single click.

Microsoft has bought some .new domain names like https://word.new . When you click on a .new link, a fresh document is created for you.  Word, Excel or PowerPoint files are created in the Office web apps with one click.

The new document is made using the current Microsoft account login (or you’ll be prompted for a login)

Word

https://word.new

https://docx.new

( https://doc.new  opens a Google Docs page )

Excel

https://excel.new

We tried some Excel variations with no luck but https://xlsx.new/ returned a security error in Edge.

PowerPoint

https://powerpoint.new

https://pptx.new

https://ppt.new

Teams

https://Teams.new   – starts a new Teams chat.

Sway

https://Sway.new

PDF

From Adobe there are some Office to PDF links

https://Pdf.new

https://Convertpdf.new

https://WordtoPDF.new

The .new Top Level Domain (TLD) is owned by Google who have a full list of all the .new domains.

It is a faster way to make a new doc, sheet or deck than opening an Office web app then clicking Create New … Blank Document.  If you do that regularly, add the web links to your browser favorites.

One noticable omission is designer.new to make a new Microsoft Designer design.

The .new links might be more useful if some parameters could be added to insert a title, file name and other details to the new document. That would let people make web links to create repeatedly made documents. For example:
https://word.new/?filename=Monthly Invoice&title=Invoice from Fred Dagg Co&template=invoice.dotx

If Microsoft wants to be really clever, add an option to make the new file in the Office desktop apps (if installed) rather than in a browser.
