Even after Service Pack 2, there are more fixes for Office 2007.

Service Pack 2 has been out less than a week and already there are more fixes for Office 2007.

These ‘hotfixes’ are temporary and ‘ not fully tested’ updates. Most are dated 30 April 2009 – only a few days after Service Pack 2 went public.

Only install them if you have the specific problem mentioned and you need a patch now. It’s better to wait for a properly tested update whenever possible.

If you need one of these patches, use the “View and request hotfix downloads” link at the top of the Microsoft support web page linked below. Fill in your email address and a download link for the hotfix will be sent to you.

Each patch has a name, being the name of the .msp patch file.

This article is a bit ahead of its time. Not all the hotfixes are available as we publish this and we can’t give details of the problems being fixed. If you get a ‘Sorry, but we couldn’t find the page that you requested.’ message when clicking on a link – try again in a few days.

In Access 2007, you open a table, a query, or a form in Datasheet view. After you select specific fonts in the Font box, the Font Size box does not display a list of font sizes. When you select the original font in the Font box, the Font Size box still does not display a list of font sizes.

When you save a Microsoft Office Word document that contains a ChemDraw drawing in the PDF format, the ChemDraw drawing is not displayed in the PDF file as expected.
In Word 2007, you add a custom Ribbon tab that is developed by using Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System (VSTO). Then, you create a new document from the Word 2007 template, and you immediately save the document without using the custom Ribbon tab. After that, the controls in the custom Ribbon tab do not work.
In Word 2007 or in Excel 2007, when you try to open an Office Open XML Format (OOXML) file that is ZIP64 compressed, you are prompted to repair the file even if the file is not corrupted.
In this case, if you repair the file, the file will open successfully. However, the digital signature in the file will break.

Though this bug appears in Outlook 2007 the problem is with the Word 2007 file wwlib.dll, so Microsoft lists this under ‘Word’.

You set the formatting of a shape as the default in PowerPoint 2003. When you try to edit the presentation in PowerPoint 2007, the default formatting is applied to bitmap pictures and objects that are pasted from the clipboard.
You embed a Microsoft Office Excel worksheet object in a PowerPoint 2007 presentation. If you double-click the object to edit it, the size of the object changes.
When you use a COM add-in, actions that are completed through Automation are not undoable as individual actions. Instead, all actions that are completed by the add-in are undone when you try to undo the last action.

After you accept updates and periods on the My Tasks page, 0 hour actual work contours are added to dates after the last date that has actual work for some assignments. This causes actual work to redistribute across the period.
After you perform a recalculation, task names disappear if a certain grouping type exists in the project plan.
Baseline values are reset when you save an .eds file to the server.
In Project Web Access (PWA), you check in a project. Then, you open this project in Project 2007. However, this project displays a status of “Check-in pending.”
Project 2007 returns unexpected leveling results when you level on a day-by-day basis in Project 2007.
A project file together with child project is not checked in when you click the Close button (the “X” at the top of the window) to exit Project 2007.
If the total value length of a field exceeds 255 characters, you cannot filter custom fields.

Proofing Tools – Catalan

Consider the following scenario. You open a Visio drawing as read-only from a document library of a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 site. Then, you select the Check-Out option to edit the drawing. In this scenario, if you select the Discard Check-Out option, Visio 2007 closes unexpectedly.
Custom applications that automate the Visio application or the ActiveX drawing control are unable to export from drawings to any of the available image formats, specifically GIF, when the target is an HTTP location.

You use ink tools to review and comment a Word 2007 document. You save and close the document. After you reopen the document, you notice that the ink is no longer in the same position.

Note The ink always moves toward the right side and downward.
When you run a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro that accesses the Range.Font object in a Word document, the macro performance is slow.
In Word 2007, custom toolbars and buttons are not displayed on the Add-Ins tab. This issue occurs when the document is based on a template from an earlier version of Word.
When you open an OLE object that contains macros in Word 2007, you do not receive a macro warning message. The macros that are stored in the OLE object are disabled without notification.
If the default Word template (Normal.dotm) contains a content control, and you create a new document by right-clicking the desktop and then clicking Microsoft Office Word Document, Word 2007 crashes when you open this document.
You receive a “Cannot send this item” error message when you try to forward an HTML e-mail message.
Outlook 2007 may crash when you drag an image file to a new e-mail message window that is behind the main Outlook window.
In Word 2007, you edit a document when the Track Changes feature is enabled. Then, you click E-mail as PDF attachment to send the document as a .pdf file. In this scenario, markups are not displayed in the .pdf file.
In Word 2007, the wdVerticalPositionRelativeToPage property does not return the correct results after the second page.

When you click a link to a Word 2007 document in a Compiled HTML Help (.chm) file, the document is not opened.
In Word 2007, you experience one of the following symptoms:

o Symptom 1
When you try to debug Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code in Visual Basic Editor, the Winword.exe process uses a high amount of CPU resources in Windows Task Manager.

o Symptom 2
When you try to run a modal UserForm in Visual Basic Editor, the Winword.exe process uses a high amount of CPU resources in Windows Task Manager.

Note By default, when you insert a UserForm into a VBA project, the UserForm is a modal UserForm.

After you convert a document that is protected by a password from binary to metro, the password is rehashed incorrectly and no longer works.
You have the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack installed. If you use Word 2003 to open a Word 2007 document that includes an XML node attribute that has more than 256 characters, the attribute value is truncated to 256 characters.
