Office 365 / Microsoft 365 business plan changes

The Office 365 Business plans are changing name to the new Microsoft 365 branding with a somewhat confusing switch of names.

It’s part of the switch from ‘Office 365’ to ‘Microsoft 365’ which happens on 21 April 2020.  Goodbye Office 365, Welcome Microsoft 365

Same, same but different

As they say in Thailand “Same, Same … but different”.

In the west we’d call it a ‘rebranding’.

The plan features are unchanged. Prices are the same.

All that’s changed, for now, is the name.

Office 365 Business Essentials — Microsoft 365 Business Basic

This low-cost per user business plan does NOT includes Office desktop programs for Windows or Mac.

The plan includes Web and mobile apps for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.

1TB of OneDrive, Teams and a 50GB mailbox with custom domain, calendar and contacts.

It sells for US$5 per user, per month, with annual payment.

Office 365 Business Premium — Microsoft 365 Business Standard

This per user business plan includes Office desktop and mobile apps, 1TB of OneDrive, Teams and a 50GB mailbox with custom domain, calendar and contacts.

It sells for US$15 per user, per month, less for annual payment.

Office 365 Business —  Microsoft 365 Business Premium

All the same features as ‘Business Standard’ plus increased security and control of data.
